How to get to Central Park Zoo via subway from Penn Station?

Can someone tell me how to get to the Central Park Zoo by way of subway from Penn Station? All answers greatly appreciated.

2 options:

1) From Penn Station – exit via 7th Av/33rd St. Walk one block to 6th Av/Broadway. Take an UPTOWN N, R or W train (letters in Yellow circles) to Fifth Avenue. Use exit at front of Fifth Av station. Cross street to Central Park, enter park and walk up to Zoo.

2) If you don’t want to walk to 6th Av, then from Penn Station take an UPTOWN 1, 2, or 3 train (numbers in red circles) one stop to 42nd St and transfer to an UPTOWN, N, R, or W train and take that to Fifth Av. proceed as in 1.
